Got this from the last newegg deal, returned it.....was pretty good the very first few days. After that, it almost drops or no signal at all a few times a day. No way to fix it so I have to restart it again a few times a day.....ended up getting another model instead.....

Is the repeater any good? My wifi signal dies in the back part of the house and backyard, so I would love a cheap alternative to boost the signal. Can't really go wrong for $18, can I?

Garbage. Worst router I have ever owned. You would think after all this time linksys will release a firmware to try to improve it better but no. Stay away.

You know, I think I'll spend a few bucks on a new one from Costco. If it doesn't work, it's easy to return. Even at less than $20, why waste my money for something that may or may not solve my needs? Thanks, OP, for the post anyway.

I found a couple of ea9200 at walmart for $45. One was defective (constant drop connection and max speed was 100mbps), the other one works fine for a week so far. Linksys is sending me a replacement for the defective one (their customer service was pretty good, I'm not sure what's all the complaint is about). The EA9200 covers a 3400 sf home no problem, I'm getting 100 mbps around the house. Near the router, I can get up to 300 mbps.

On a related note: I find many Walmart have the WRT1900ACS on clearance for $124, that might be worth it. I think Walmart employees confused the WRT1900AC with the WRT1900ACS. Brickseek doesn't show any store around me with the ACS while there are plenty of AC, but I find it to be the opposite in stores. Several stores I go to have the ACS for $124 and zero stock for the AC.

I just did a bunch of research on routers. It really depends on what you need and how fast your internet is. My research points toward the netgear X4S to be one of the best value out there.

I ended up picking up the "Linksys WRT3200ACM AC3200 MU-MIMO Wifi Router (Certified Refurbished)" from Linksys EB store. Price a bit higher then this but since 5/8 (the day I got this) till now, nothing happen and runs strong. Plus it is smart router which allows you install 3rd party firmware???(but I did not because it is good enough for what it is). It was priced $100 + tax = ~~~$110 Out the door. So yes, it is a bit more than this one but way better....and if you don't need it like right now, you can wait, I see the refur price been $89.99 before.
