Got myself a W1070, didn't research much, but since the slick dealers have been jumping on it for quite some time, im assuming it's the right choice.

Outdoors and daylight... I don't know one projector that can handle that well..

It's a great introduction projector. Excellent for gaming and decent colors. Lacking in black levels, but at this price range, to be expected. It was my first projector. I absolutely loved it

You can't use projectors outside in the day time. Needs to at least be pretty dusk.

Epson 1040 is better. I own this and return it. Not bright enough and rainbow effect.

The w1070 is a great projector. My only caveat is that the ht2050 is a couple generations newer and has some improvements (and hopefully) can be had for not much more when another deal comes around. I decided to wait and get that one.

Incidentally, if you're getting a projector screen, the silver ticket brand is supposed to be great value.

This sums it up perfectly.

Thoughts on w1070 longterm vs LED LG PF1000u or PF1500? Looking for high use basement projector w no ambient lighting. Spend the $$$ on LG led or no? have 700 lumen LG led upstairs that gets washed out by windows but 1000 lumen downstairs on LED on 135" sufficient? TIA

If you buy a refurb W1070 (or any of these projectors) do you also get a used bulb or does BenQ replace the bulb with a brand new bulb for refurbs?

I did the same, and I'm happy with the W1070 enough that I want to get a second projection system. I already have a second screen. I just need another projector (I'll go up to around $600 + tax this time), and I figure I might as well get a different (slightly better) model, especially as this is in a brighter room. The HT2050 would be ideal, but it's not on this refurb list.

Here is the short list I complied from others' posts. Anyone know of any deals on any of these right now? I want a long throw around 13' for 120" (same as the W1070 or HT2050).

> BenQ W1070 (2000 lumens, some plastic in lens)
- BenQ W1075
- BenQ W1080ST
> BenQ HT2050 (updated model of W1070 with 2200 lumens, all glass lens (better), faster color wheel, powered USB port)
- BenQ HT3080
- Epson 2040 or 2045

Paying $430 for a refurb W1070 when my new one was $489 is a bit tough.
EDIT: Totally forgot something critical: whatever projector I buy must support 144 Hz DLP Link 3D.

Mine is fairly new, but while on this subject could you tell me a bit more about the lamp as it gets older. Does the picture get noticeably dimmer or does it still seem as bright as when new to you? Also, do you plan (or have you done) a bulb replacement and if so will it be the cheap bulb that you have to mount in the existing housing or a complete housing? The latter is nearly $200 I think. I need to find URLs and sources on it for the future

Not everyone sees the rainbow effect. To me the W1070 is very nice and people say it's a so-so projector, so if a W1070 is so-so then better projectors must be amazing.

Have you found a good price on the HT2050 and if so can you tell me how much and where? I need to get it by the 31st which is when I have the handyman coming.

Also, Fry's has the Inland 120" motorized screen for $149 - $50 MIR right now. backordered online but in stock at many stores. It may not be the best but I think it looks pretty good.

you can't beat Epson 2045... oem bulbs are 70 bucks... I'm on my second in my 2nd year of owning this because I run it daily in the living room.

wish benq didn't take advantage of customers with lamps... or else I would own 2 projectors to get the best of both worlds.

I have to imagine the refurbs get a new bulb, but obviously it would be best to ask BenQ directly

picture seems the same to me after 2500 hours. haven't tested it with a light meter or anything, but i'd guess any change is minimal

i plan to buy a bulb soon as i would prefer to have minimal downtime when mine pops. I'll probably buy genuine and with the housing for around $200. I've found some suggestions on reddit for reputable suppliers.
