This can wind up as low as $290 with the rebate bonus (up to $20 total) pointed out by user EffOne available here:

Just leave a review for the motherboard on Newegg!
Thanks, EffOne!

Also, those of you using a Chase CC can shave $10 off by shopping through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

Shipping to me was $5.

But not everyone has access to a local Microcenter. I wish I did. :\

And the rebate is only $5.

No doubt. People like bars to compare to.

The NewEgg price is pretty respectable. They don't often come that close.

There's also cost in driving to the store (granted I work a mile from one) but its offset with being able to return stuff for a full refund easy. Returns with Newegg are...an adventure.

For reference, combo is $285 + tax at local microcenter.

With tax and common $5 off coupon, total is $297 out the door around here. No rebate required.

Wouldn't surprise me. They do have a limit of 2 per customer.

How good of a deal is this really? I'm building a new machine and was shooting for the 1600 because it comes with a cooler. Should I pull the trigger on this and buy a cooler or wait for a decent CPU + Mobo deal on the 1600? Thanks in advance.

Too bad wraith cooler is not included, plus MC just lowered their 1600 price by $20

If you have MC near you, I would say 1600 + motherboard is a better deal

I am wondering if it would be a worthy sidegrade to go from an unoverclocked i7-6700K to this?

It really depends. This will give you guaranteed higher clocks. One way to look at it is with the discount on this combo, you can get a much better cooler like the MSI Core Frozr L, which I have on my 1800X.
