One does not have to 'install' Bing. It involves changing the default search engine in those two browsers, no installing some app. Also, I have not see the reward yet. I just save my points until I get 29,000 and then get a year of Xbox Live Gold.

5250 credits is $5 Amazon GiftCard, so 500 credits is what, about 50¢.

Where do you see this on your phone? In the app? I've had a "Time for a Change" activity on my iOS Microsoft/Bing Rewards app for a few days that states that they're ending support for the app in May but that "I can keep earning!" and promises me 10 credits if I complete it. Completing it leads me to the app store to update the Bing app. Which I have done. I didn't earn the 10 credits though.

I don't have any offer anywhere to earn 500 credits to switch to Bing on my phone. Maybe it's for people who didn't already download the Bing app...

You simply change your phone's settings so the browser uses Bing as the default search engine.
It's explained in the link provided, but I created a wiki with the steps for convenience.

Didn't work for me, but I think I already got bonus points for doing it a few months ago. Good heads up for anyone who hasn't gotten them yet though.

What's the value of this deal - to us, vs. the obvious revenue benefit to M$?

A $5 amazon card is 5200, currently a windows store $5 GC is 3500. Do the math.
