Straight Talk Silver IPhone SE 16gb $159.00

It's not the best deal that's been posted on the SE's but it's not bad. Only the silver is currently available, it's not refurbished and through walmart.com so I expect you should be able to price match at other locations. I do not know if it's GSM or CDMA, if it's unlocked or not and I do not know how to go about unlocking it.

They are locked to ST. 16GB is definitely a deal breaker.

It's above. It's the same thing as a 6S but in a 5s body.

I'm not 100% sure, but these might be unlocked. I bought the SE (32GB $159) and a 6 (32GB $199) a few days ago instore, popped in my WFM sim and bypassed the activation screen. So i'm using mine on Family Mobile Smilie But then again Family Mobile (T-Mobile) was bought out by Tracfone recently, so who really knows.

32GB Rose Gold or Space Grey are same price in-store and might be unlocked look at my post above this one.

The phone is locked to ST until you have the phone on a ST plan for a year. At that point you can have them unlock the phone. The locked phones work on Total Wireless as well.

Check in-store. They are selling 32GB, not 16GB iPhone SEs in Rose Gold or Space Grey for $159. These come with red SIM card kits attached, meaning they are Verizon CDMA models. I picked one up and inserted my ST AT&T sim upon first boot and it works like a charm. I recommend the ST AT&T sim over the Verizon, because Verizon limits ST customers to 5mbps download speeds at all times...I get over 40mbps on my AT&T sim in some areas.

Also, it seems like putting my ST AT&T sim when activating has locked it to AT&T...I tried to use a ST T-Mobile sim and was given a nasty failed to reach activation server message.

So what is the verdict on the ones with red sim cards? Are those unlocked or only unlocked to the extent that you can select a different ST operator?

SE is definitely locked to specific SIMs in the Tracfone family.

Grabbed an iPhone SE 32GB in-store.

Put in a post-paid VZW SIM before first power-on. Nope.
Tried an older Tracfone CDMA BYOP SIM (TF256PSIMV9ND). Nope.
Came with a red SIM (TF256PSIMV9N--no D at the end).

For kicks, I activated the included SIM card and had no issues. So it will only work with the included sim or Straight Talk AT&T sim it seems. You need to have it unlocked otherwise. Another downside with the Verizon network is that the call quality is unbelievably horrible, and you can't surf the web while on a call.
