It kills me I can't just use my Wii U full-sized controller (or any other Wii U controller) on the Switch. Mad

Hrm... it was $64 for me.

65 for a controller is slick. Smh. Nintendo is robbing people and they barely have any games to justify buying the system yet at full price

Saw some at Target yesterday for $70

For you maybe. However I have 6 games I play almost daily with my son using two pro controllers. Worth every penny. YMMV obviously since you're picky with your games.

The 8bitdo controllers are said to work on switch soon... looking forward to that. I do agree the Nintendo branded ones are pretty pricey.

Someone posted earlier in reply saying this isn't a 'Wii U 2', assuming it is normal for Nintendo products to not support previous generation controllers.

When I bought my original Wii, I discovered I could use GameCube controllers on it. When I purchased my Wii U, I found out I can use my Wiimote controllers there.

So, I would argue it was Nintendo themselves who set the precedent on using legacy controllers on new consoles. This was something I was expecting, based upon previous generation Nintendo consoles. I want to say other peeps around the world also expected this, too.

Sure, I have disposable income at the moment and bought the Switch Pro Controller based upon the OP's deal here. Not everyone will be able to do that and it sux for Nintendo to not follow the precedent they've set through the years to help humans save funds.

Seeing how easily 8bitdo was able to upgrade their NES30Pro and FC30Pro to support the Switch (firmware upgrade), I'd be surprised if someone wasn't able to hack the older controllers to finally get them to work with the Switch...

Breath of the Wild. Not many other games are needed right now because that will consume your life.
