I don't even see a way to add it to the cart. Maybe they changed the price.

I think the link is incorrect to the item. that is an eBay 20% off code.

Why would you want to add it to cart? No reason to buy the previous generation.

109.60 with the ebay code.

That 230 is a great watch, but lacks built-in HR. The 235 is the next generation.

No it's not. It's the same gen model with an additional feature. Some don't want built in HR, so why pay for it.

I'll give you I wasn't looking at this having built in HR but I'd rather get the 235 and drop the extra $90 to have Connect IQ and the updated HR sensor from Garmin over the MIO one in the 225. Not to mention the larger screen.

Though if I wanted to keep close to your price point, I'd get the Vivoactive HR over the 225.

So which one is better ? 225 or 230 or 235 ?

Also how does this compare to FitBit alta or charge 2 with HR?

Personally if I cared that much about built in HR, I would go with the Vivoactive HR for $128. If you didn't need/want the advanced running metrics the 22x/23x series offers.

Thanks. This is my first fitness watch purchase but I am gifting to a person who wants to measure how he is doing without activity or during activity or after activity or during sleep-time.

Any extra metrics would be beneficial.

The running metrics of the 22/33 series have nothing to do with metrics as an activity tracker. Zero. The Vivoactive HR is one of the best activity trackers out there with the benefit of having GPS and Garmin's running/biking/swimming functions too. On top of being able to download countless custom apps from Garmin's connect IQ.

The two Fitbits can't compare nor can the 225 in that respect.

I have this watch (FR225) and the HR monitor is extremely accurate, and a great watch if you are a runner and don't need to track other activities. Garmin changed the optical HR sensor with the 235 (later version), and I have read multiple reviews that it is wonky/not as accurate as the 225.

Garmin usually provides a 1 year warranty for refurbished watches sold through eBay, as long as bought through "Buy it now" and not an auction. I've used this myself and had my refurbished unit replaced at no charge.

If I were buying today, I would take the 225 for ~$110 over a 235 for ~$230 all day. There is also another slickdeal for the top tier Garmin 735xt that is good for multi-sport and better than both the 225 and 235... but around $250ish as I recall. That would be my top choice for a serious athlete or triathlete.

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked at your link and this is a new version with GPS. Most of my original comment does not apply... no knowledge about the new version.

ORIGINAL: I respectfully disagree. My wife has the Vivoactive HR... no GPS, small screen, and built more as an activity tracker. I run about 30 miles a week with the 225 and it provides great HR tracking... checked it against a chest strap on several occasions and it was spot on.

On the other hand, it does not capture 24/7 HR activity like the Vivoactive HR, 230, or 235... so if that is important the latter units would be better. For HR during a run or on-demand HR, 225 works awesome though.
