Haha you have to got to check out to see the extra discount. That's how most of the Amazon discounts work.

What reviews are you reading? Most of the reviews on that Amazon page are for different Netgear products.

The original R6700 v1 was a stripped down R7000 exclusively for Costco back in 2014.

Quote from WikiDevi [wikidevi.com] :
Changes from the R7000 to this R6700 appear to be the removal of the USB 2.0 port and a claim of only N450 speeds at 2.4GHz instead of N600.
Netgear recently released the R6700 v2. I haven't found many details of this new revision but it is probably just a cost-reduced update. There are unlikely to be many reviews of this product on Amazon yet.

This was previous $99, then with the $20 coupon would drop it to $79. The price fluctuates up and down at this point.

Originally, I wanted x4s for performance, I settled for EA8500 AC 2600 (800 mhz on 2.4G and 1733 mhz on 5G) mu-mimo for $70 refurb. I am still glad it's one of a better value out there.

I bought this router last time it was on sale a couple months back. I was using a rinky dink AT&T modem/router that was downright painful to use. Tons of random drops, pathetic range, you name the problem, we had it. This Nighthawk router was a godsend. Now everyone in the whole house can use the internet at the same time without issues and the range is so much better. Best purchase I've made this year. My only regret is that I didn't upgrade that POS AT&T router sooner. We struggled with that thing for at least a couple years.

Picked this up about 6 months ago when it dipped to $79 and absolutely love it. The thing is a work horse. Signal strength is full speed everywhere in the house and it never goes out. Nothing worse than a modem/router that randomly goes out all the time and has to keep getting reset.

I'm right there w/ya, dude. It's like night & day.

I just picked up one of those (albeit, kinda old technology) beefy routers from the recent Walmart 'Outdated networking hardware clearance non-advertised Event' a few fellow SD'ers gave a heads up on about a week or so ago.

I really wanted the Asus router they had clearanced... but settled on (because it's the best one of the bunch I could find) the fastest (per price comparison) & best router they had.

The BEAST (in comparison to my old Linksys Valet router) I picked up, for just slightly over $50, is the Linksys WRTAC1900. It really makes a HUGE difference, especially in terms of improved range.

And it's at least 4x-5x faster than the old router. My wife thinks I am now some sort of a network engineer just because I swapped it out & it's purring like a kitten. Ha ha.

Anyway, good times. :-)

Would anyone recommended this over a 3 year old netgear N900? Just moved back home and the signal in the guess room gets spotty sometimes tho the old one works fine. At this price tho ..

Great price, but I bought a netgear a couple of years back that would not work at all. Sent it back after a few days of tech support ignoring whatever I wrote and listing basic setup instructions.

Is anyone using this one on a mac? The issues I was having seemed to be related to buggy software and poor integration with apple products.
