I have that same motherboard. It won't work properly with this CPU as it doesn't work properly with 125W CPUs. I had to install additional heatsinks and a fan on the mosfets in order to prevent the CPU from throttling. Still didn't work out, ended up downgrading to a FX-6300 and performance was actually better (and less crashy).

I wouldn't recommend "upgrading" a 5 year old computer with 5 year old computer tech....

On the other hand, if you want another computer that needs to be cheap and don't mind it being not-so-power efficient, then this might be good.

I am underclocking and undervolting my 8350 to save on power. It still works fine for what I use it for.

I just don't know if this is much better than my 5 year old i5 3550. This CPU is about as old too.

Thanks! I'm just seeing what I can do for less than $200 while also keeping my ddr3 ram.

Yeah like the other guy said don't replace old with old unless one or two parts go down. I'm actually rebuilding my old pc with an i7 3770k with a refurb Mobo and ram... It still holds up well and to upgrade to ryzen it'd cost me an extra 350. I just used that money to get a like new 1070 instead of the 580 I was planning to get.

The cost of the DDR3 has got out of hand, and for that reason, I would pass, but in looking for memory on Ebay, I think I see AMD only memory better priced. Any one use AMD only memory with this board and CPU?

This is a seriously elderly CPU, but at this price, it's a good deal if you don't mind the heavy cooling and power requirements.

YES!! It's a great gaming system. I might be ordering one myself with a companion motherboard to replace my 6-year-old Vishera system that has performed greatly for the past 6 years. Every little bit helps, as long as it's an affordable upgrade.
