I got the klipsch sub-12 bundle deal from buydig last week for 229 after ebay bucks. Sold the bundled r-14m bookshelf speakers on Craigslist for 140. So net 90 bucks for the subwoofer with the accessories, cable, banana plugs, etc. I am happy with my purchase, the sub sounds a little boomy for music, it is not tight. However I have not done any calibration or moved the sub around to find the best position. I also need to break it in a bit, I guess.

They go very low 23Hz and are the best value for anything within a few hundred dollars of this, except for the rare times the Klipsch 112sw (not the 12sw) goes on sale for $300. I have these paired with 5 Klipsch speakers and they are great.

I had this sub and it blew out on me after a couple years, the amp went bad. It was in warranty and Polk Audio would not honor my warranty, saying I did not purchase from an authorized retailer. Also, it's $180 on Amazon. Not recommended.

Don't know about the Klipsch but I purchased 2 Bic 12 about 2 years ago and for movies they are perfect for me. At first with music they sounded pretty bad to my liking but after breaking them in the sound is way better. They dont get too low but the bic was never really known for music nonetheless they shake my house

What's your point? It's $160 here. Is that not $20 cheaper?

Newegg is an authorized Polk Dealer. They are on their list [polkaudio.com].

The amps on these are very poor quality and won't last. I would pass on this sub.

No, not usefully it doesn't

MFG specs are often optimistic- in this case they're almost criminally so. Subs that are at least trying to be honest about specs will give a frequency response range that is +/- 3db... meaning they play in that range without a really significant drop-off in output.

Polk doesn't do that.

They just list the range the sub can produce ANY sound, not matter how faint.

Back in real life however-

Quote from Actual review of the sub :
A short-duration (about 1.5 seconds), digitally synthesized logarithmic sine sweep was used to evaluate the frequency response of the subwoofer. The PSW505 frequency response measured 35 Hz -142 Hz ± 3 dB.

Which is pretty terrible

The Klipsch Sub12HG mentioned by others in contrast actually specs +/- 3db from the MFG down to 24Hz

I have this sub and have no complaints about it. I am no audiophile but it sounds great with my setup. In my opinion this is a pretty solid deal.

I have owned this sub for 3 years. Nothing but good things to say here. I am using it with Polk series 2 monitor speakers. I'm buying another at this price.

Just know that the one you have has a BASH amp and this model now uses a different, cheaper amp.

I'll give you the comments in the cheap Polk 10" sub thread. But you're pulling that one test out of his entire review which tells a different story of its overall performance. Now keep in mind it is only $160. And if you're outside of a Fry's area, you're not getting the Klipsch for anywhere close to that price.
