I think some people are having a hard time understanding what the word prorated means. The discount amount (your specific discount amount is the price of the "free" tool you choose) will be applied proportionally to each of the two items you buy. The first being the drill set, the second being whatever you chose. The higher the price of the "free" tool, the better the net discount you will receive on it after returning the drill. I can't tell you what the prorated amount is, because it depends on the price of the "free" tool.
If you want to see what the final price would be for a specific tool after returning the drill, just add the drill and whatever tool you want to the homedepot.com shopping cart. The cart will automatically change the prices on both tools. The price that it shows for the drill, is the refund amount if you return just that item.

Also, I do recommend all three of the above saws. The circular saw doesn't have a ton of power (I'm used to my Skil Mag 77 though) but it is entirely usable, you just need to go a little slower in 2x lumber. It is also better with a Diablo blade instead of the crap Ryobi blade.

I'm curious about this as well to get the impact driver and the hammer drill (but not the main drill) - what was the prorated discount you got?

I suspect they prorate the price because of returns. If the tool were really "free" then you could return the drill kit and get a free tool. Some slick dealers have already pointed out they can get a discount using this system. If one were to be unable to return the drill kit without returning the tool that was free, I wonder whether many would call this a deal, as you pointed out.
Will I be able to return it and get discount on "free" tool or not?
Someone said yes, someone said no.
it should be about 45% off. will vary with cost of the bare tool selected. that discount I calculated with the bare tool msrp of 79 which after return would be about 43.5.

definitely recommend the Diablo blades on any saw you purchase
