Not the lowest it's ever been, but the lowest priced GTX 1050 Ti I could find right now.

Also the MSI GTX 1050 2GB for $79.99 AR:

I may buy this and return my Zotac GTX 1050 mini 2GB.
How quiet is the Gigabyte board for 1080p movies?

The Gigabyte fan is relatively quiet. I had an RX 460 with a similar fan and below 60% is was barely audible. And the fan turns off below a certain temperature threshold...probably won't even spin up for 1080p movies. BTW, that review you liked is for the dual fan G1 gaming card, so this one will likely be a little louder due to the single fan.

The GTX 970 is about 20% faster than the GTX 1050 Ti. If you want to upgrade, the GTX 1060 would be the better option. The only thing better about the 1050 Ti is the low power consumption (it does not require an additional PCI-e power connector from the power supply, so you can use it in a standard OEM PC).

The GTX 970 is a lot better card than what's posted.

I wouldn't upgrade to 1060 either, it has no SLI capabilities.

What I would do is buy another 970 second hand and SLI it if you were thinking about upgrading the card

Or, sell your 970, and upgrade to either 1070 or 1080

Just my two cents

Nah, SLI for a 970 at this point is not a good idea. I would not recommend that. Especially with games like PUBG eating up VRAM like candy. In fact, I would not recommend SLI at all.

A 1060 6Gb would be a solid upgrade, not a lot more powerful but has 6GB of VRAM you can actually use. Depends on budget and resolution you are running.

1070 def recommend though. Huge perf jump over 970.

This is the most powerful card out right now that doesn't require a power connector, correct?

Would it just be as simple as swapping out my power supply to allow me to use a more powerful card. As in everything my Asus PC has will just plug in and magically work?

this is a great little card. I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything like that, I mainly play Battlegrounds.

Yes, this is the most powerful, slot powered GPU available right now (75W TDP). It would work fine with most OEM power supplies (I believe ASUS PC's come with stock 350W minimum, which is plenty for this graphics card).

Is the 1050 the current HTPC GPU king?

I need a GPU just for video content at 4K for Plex, Netflix, etc.

Just bought a new OLED 4K and am looking for a new GPU to get the latest and greatest 4K, HDR, 60hz at 4K, 4:4:4:, etc.

I don't plan to game at all on it.

Are there an passive cooled 1050/ti cards?
