If I didn't just buy a RX 580 8GB, I'd totally hop on this deal

requires student id/email/login info to get student pricing.

Doesn't seem all that special compared to the recent $320-330 deals for the GTX 1070, aside from this being Asus rather than gigabyte or zotac

I think people who want a really cooled/quiet system would go with asus due to the 3 fans

gigabyte was 3 fans. From the looks of the thumbs down, I guess many agree with me this is not a SD at this time.

Not saying it is a good deal or a bad deal. It is gone any way. Just pay attention as this card is in the sweet spot for miners after they bought every single R470/480/570/580 in the market causing RX480 to reach 400 after it was 150. Same thing will happen to GTX 1070.
How am I sure? because I bought 18 cards in the last 10 days.

They are $400...$600 today but soon enough they'll be $30/piece used - once this crypto currency pyramid tumbles.

1.) AMD is the go-to for crypto currency generation (for those currencies that don't yet have dedicated ASICS, like ethereum).
2.) You're dreaming if you think this card is going to $30. GTX 780 Ti still goes for $150, used, which is a vastly inferior card than the GTX 1070.

Not talking about Nvidia cards. See post above mine. I'm saying that once all those RX480 rigs are going to be obsolete/not needed - these Radeons will show up on eBay in thousands of cards - immediately saturating market for these already aged cards. $30 is more than reasonable to be expected at that point.

I got you, but the RX480's still aren't going to be that low. RX480 far outperforms the GTX 780 ti as well (which is $150+ still, after 3 years, so it's not unreasonable to expect the RX480 to hold a similar value if ethereum and other currencies totally went to shit). So maybe in 3 years we'll see the RX480 drop down that low (based on the 6970's history I'd say that's pretty accurate).

1070s mine nearly as well as the RX 4 and 500s, and when the cost of the RX's approached the cost of a 1070 it made them attractive for miners.

I agree that you won't see them for $30.

OP's deal was actually not too bad for a 1070 in the current climate.
