With regards to thumb downs hiding comments...

What is the threshold for a post to be hidden? From what I'm seeing, it seems that quality posts (usually ones that bring up valid criticism) are being hidden too easily at the moment. I've seen perfectly fine posts with 3 thumb downs that have been hidden, yet the content of the post is nothing controversial or 'spammy'.

It also seems like this feature can be abused very easily unless there's more weighting going on behind the scenes than the 3 thumbs down I'm seeing now? What keeps the thread sponsor from having a couple employees (or just duplicate accounts) downvoting posts that critique the product?

I understand there's a need for quality control, but I think this is a step in the wrong direction. Slickdeals shows deals, user posts sell products. I'm not going to purchase a product if the negative reviews are hidden. I feel like I'm not the only one. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I just saw a hidden post with 4 thumbs up and 5 down. Ridiculous.

It's really diluting the quality of discussion. How about making a setting where we can toggle this auto-hiding or not. I've never seen anything so abusive or inappropriate to warrant hiding anything, and like you've said, a lot of good dialogue can be had even with negative feedback.

thanks for your feedback, i think we need to do some adjustment - maybe its not smart enough to identify those controversial ones!

This system appears to have improved quite a bit. In fact, it's been a while since I've seen a hidden post!

It's a reddit rip-off and it's taking away from the community experience. I actually run the "old" version on the desktop (hah hah SD) so I don't have to see the silly, trendy (and unnecessary) comment voting system.
