Overwhelming majority of consumer jack stands are rated in pairs
4 ton IS 8000lbs. Per the picture, this is 4000lbs/2ton per stand, so 8000lbs/4ton per pair

I did not follow link, but Craftsman rates their stands as a pair, while everyone else rates them indivudually. After researching several here I bought another brand.

Thanks, OP. I bought a set of these for a little more earlier this year, but earned $3.50 in SYWR points this time!

Edit: I use these for my Tundra and Odysseys, and everything smaller - these seem more stable than my Craftsman non-professional (silver) pair.

The 4 ton rating is for each jack stand. According to the description on Sears product page, both jack stands (pair) has a total weight capacity of 8000 lbs.
4 ton IS 8000lbs. Per the picture, this is 4000lbs/2ton per stand, so 8000lbs/4ton per pair

If you plan to support 16000 pounds (each rated at 4 tons) then yes, I would recommend a true professional brand, such as Sunex or Esco. However these are over-engineered and definitely can handle the weight rated. I guess it would bother you less if they said they were sold as two, 2-ton capacity jack stands? If one is dumb enough to use one jack stand they don't belong under the car.

I would get these but my car has pinch welds and don't look like it has a gap to accommodate them.

I use harbor freight ones with no issues. Considered buying these before on sale but harbor freight was more convenient and I've used plenty of them
