Panasonic G7 Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Camera w/ 14-42mm Lens $498 + Free Shipping

Amazon [amazon.com] has the well-rated PANASONIC LUMIX G7 4K Mirrorless Camera, with 14-42mm MEGA O.I.S. Lens, 16 Megapixels, 3 Inch Touch LCD, DMC-G7KK in Black and Silver for $497.99 with Free Shipping before tax.

B&H Photo and Video [bhphotovideo.com] also has the Lumix G7 w/ free accessory kit for $497.99 on backorder, with no tax outside of NY or NJ for those who are willing to wait.

This is not the slickest deal in history for the G7, however it only goes on sale periodically and is usually priced at $700. For those like me who have been waiting for a price drop, now is a good time to get an well-regarded Mirrorless Camera that makes a great entry point for people interested in shooting 4k Video.

Edit: Also on sale at
Adorama: $497.99, with $19.92 Adorama Rewards after purchase (rewards expire after 6 months) [adorama.com]
Best Buy: $499.99 [bestbuy.com]

I just bought it from ebay with the $15 off coupon for $482.99. Pretty solid deal.

I have been looking at the Sony 6500-Is this a solid competitor?

I would get something with 5-axis in body image stabilization like the GX85 (this one is $700 right now and comes with an extra lens which sells for $250), or Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II which is $500 right now but does not do 4K.

Nope. The autofocus and stabilization on this model is trash compared to Sony's 6500.

I recently purchased this camera. Admittedly I'm a newbie, but so far the photos I have been getting are pretty good, even with the kit lens (I typically use manual mode as the Ai tends to blur). What I like about this camera (and don't like at the same time) is that it utilizes lens stabilization. While such lenses cost more, they will also be a bit more future proof once dual IS takes hold.

This is a good camera. Going with a better camera will undoubtedly get you better images. But, there are a few tech advancements coming down the pike that might make you want to wait to spend the extra on a great camera, such as a global shutter, BSI, etc.

I've got a GH4 and have used this camera, it's very light and very nice! I would suggest you get a LUMIX Lens such as a 12-35mm 2.8 pricey but amazing and great at low light as well

This has 4K, doesn't over heat, has a flip out screen, and i think panasonic still has that 3 year warranty promo going on. Picture quality is ok and video quality is gorgeous. Autofocus
is the only reason I would get the a6000 over this.
