AMEX Rewards - Home Depot eGC $1.25 per 100 points

+5 Deal Score
4,989 Views
American Express Rewards has a "20% off sale" on Home Depot eGift Certificates.

For example:
$50 is usually 5,000 points, currently 4,000 points.

This is a good deal for folks who do not want to mess around with travel rewards, points transfers, etc. Note, the sale only applies to the electronic gift certificates.

Good through 6/30.

Reported as YMMV

What's the sell rate for HD GC? At least 1:1 cash out of MR?

This is a YMMV deal FYI. Not all MR accounts are eligible.

I'm surprised this would be YMMV. Interesting. Works on an EveryDay card.

I have it on my personal plat. 120K MR into $1500 HD GC would be tempting, simply because of where I am in life (about to move, probably buy a house, start a family, not at likely to travel), plus I'm already sitting on a million points across various FF/Hotel programs. Ugh.

So much for the $500 worth I bought during the last 20% sale. Was planning to buy gift cards

Sure, You can sell your amex MR points to a points broker who buys them for cash up front. There are many many brokers which you can find at the following link:

https://slickdeals.net/f/4629010-official-where-to-sell-airline-miles-credit-card-points-or-rewards-thread-no-buying-selling?v=1

You can go on their website and get a quote. They will email you with their best price on your points from many different credit card points programs, amex being one of them called membership rewards (MR) They usually pay 25% more than 1:1 point ratio(1 cent per 1 point so they will pay 1.25 cents per point). For example. if you have 50K points, they will pay you $625 or more(1.25 cents per point) depending on going rate, demand and competition. I have gotten close to 1.4 cents per point. You have to shop the brokers to get the best deal but it's simple and they send paypal or chase pay or similar.

Hope that helps!
