Everyone needs to disregard and comments with concerns about keeping it charged. This is literally the lowest maintenance watch on the planet. As long as you don't put it in a box or other location that isn't subject to light, it will be fine. I go weeks without wearing my eco drives (I have 3) and they just sit in my bathroom when I'm not wearing. I've never had any of them lose charge, ever.

Autos or Kinetics would require one to wear the watch every few days - these are unique in that they don't have such a requirement AND you don't have to replace a battery. Fantastic watches.

Not sure what the poster above is talking about, mine will last for at least 6 months without light. When not wearing it leaving it on or near a windowsill or in sufficient light during the day is plenty to keep it charged. I do not know about the newer ones but my 17 year old Citizen Eco-Drive uses a capacitor not a battery and it has never been replaced.

I've had an eco-drive on my nightstand for almost 2 years and have only worn it maybe 5 times.. It's never stopped or lost more than a min here or there. Barely sees any daylight, just CFL/LED lighting inside. I wouldn't worry much unless you leave it in a dark drawer that gets zero light.

Definitely a cool color.

Though I do have to warn against getting an eco-drive dress watch unless you plan on wearing the watch regularly during the day (at least once every couple of weeks). I have a couple of eco-drive dress watches that are always out of battery when I want to wear them because they're not my every day watches. Unlike kinetic watches, you can't charge up eco-drives right before you leave the house.

All I ever wear are Citizen Eco-Drives. If you leave them in the sun for a day of charging they're good for a while. This isn't a bad price for this style of watch and would make a good gift.

It would make a good gift. I buy things through out the year, so I usually don't have a lot to buy at Christmas.

Eco-drives aren't 100% solar, they are more like hybrids like a Toyota Prius. It's a solar panel on the watch face connected to a rechargeable battery. The battery can store up to 6 months worth of power on cheaper models, and over a year on more expensive models.

I don't see why they can't recharge from regular indoor light. its only a problem if you keep it in the box

Uhh, that would be 100% solar. A solar watch without a capacitor wouldn't keep very good time at night.

you can just use a led desk lamp to charge them. that's what I do. lamp pointing down over watch display case.
