I've been in the market for a mirrorless camera, I was torn between the Sony a6300 vs. a6500 but was disappointed to see that the a6500 had worse battery life. Additionally, once I saw this deal I thought I could get two lenses for less then the a6500 with the 18-50mm lens. I searched Slickdeals and it looks like this has been the best deal yet on this combo, curious to get everyone's thoughts? I ordered one but can always return it Smilie.

Good deal on a fantastic camera but after using the 55-210, I returned that lense. Kept the 16-50 for its small size. Purchased a sweet 18-105 on Craigslist for those times I want to do some serious photography.

That's super unfortunate but looks like you don't get charged one if the product is unopened.

Curious on why you returned the 55-210 lens?

I would totally pull the trigger if it was ~$700, but I know the body can go for more than that... Just picked up the a5000 open box from Best Buy for $300 so I think I'm set. Gonna get some great photos on some hikes in Europe in July.

Might I ask how the a5000 held up on your hikes? I'm in the market for a mirrorless for hikes.

It was great. I picked up one of these cases from B&H [bhphotovideo.com] before I left, so I had it slung over my shoulder for easy access the whole time without getting in the way.

These are some random photos from the trip [imgur.com]. None are edited in any way. I was satisfied with the clarity and how vibrant photos were right out of the box. It's tough to capture all of the beauty over there - look at the blues in the water or the crispness of the buildings in the distance in Positano. The last one's a panorama just to give you an idea.

I shot in RAW and JPEG, so I touched up a few in Lightroom when I got home [google.com]. It's amazing the level of depth that exists when you just teak a few things. Obviously take my post skills with a grain of salt, but it's great how much data is captures for you to play with.

Overall, great camera. Really happy with the purchase and Sony overall. I would definitely stay in this camera-family when I eventually need to upgrade or if I saw an appealing deal.
