It's ok to buy a gray market camera, but you assume a lot of the potential risk. Nikon will not service the camera if anything goes wrong or if you need a warranty claim. This seller offers a 30 day warranty, which is fairly short. So the question is whether you think the upfront price savings are more important than the longer term coverage in the event something goes wrong.

what information do I need to look at to determine if it's grey market? is it marked by version: Import?

Just get a SquareTrade warranty for cheap on eBay as ST has a relationship with eBay. Personally I would not worry about it being grey as there are camera repair facilities that will in fact repair grey. Nikon has allowed some DX cameras (likely others) that are grey to be repaired at their repair facilities. As a fyi and speaking of this sellers 30 day warranty, Nikon refurbs are only 90 days vs Canon at a full 1 year on refurb.

Unless one needs a second control wheel, there is little reason to go with their 7000 series cams unless water resistance (not water proof like Pentax) is important. Excellent camera, especially at this price. Tempting me.

LOL..ask them. But if you don't want to call/email, it is grey.
