The bare tool is $119. So for $10 more, you get a charger & battery. Plus this thing is tiny and light weight, perfect for working on doors, too.
  • Brushless motor
  • Variable speed dial for easily adjusting speed to application, 17,000 RPM to 25,000 RPM
  • Micro-adjust dial for easily adjusting the router depth to the specific material and application
  • Soft start technology helps prevent gouges on work surface and extends motor life
  • Quick release lever allows easy removal of the motor housing from the base
  • LED light illuminates work area and improves visibility

I saw this yesterday, thought it was a mistake. Makes the bare tool look kinda stupid. LSA only works on the kit not the bare tool, if I'm not mistaken.

No. It works on everything except bare batteries.

not here to bash the deal. if you want this router it's a good deal... but I replaced this guy with a DeWalt plunge/ fixed router kit and I am much happier. Thanks for sharing though.

Can you elaborate on the shortcomings of this router and why the one you ended up with is better?

dewalt is corded. i have the same set. it does the job well enough. the ridgid has a better micro depth adjustment dial and led light. for a small job, you can't beat the convenience of cordless.

Kinda apples and oranges then. I'd expect a corded router to be more powerful.

Speaking of cordless though, I hope DeWalt does decide to make one. Seems like their flexvolt system would be able to make a strong contender. Routing large projects would be so much simpler with cordless.

Primarily power and size. Obviously batteries have their advantages and disadvantages. I dont think this makes a good primary router. However it does have it's place in your tool box for smaller jobs. I would grab the Bosch FP deal if I needed a primary router right now over this.
