Best Buy currently has all Sideclicks for $19.99. I purchased ones for my Roku and Fire TV.

Fantastic idea! Thank you, OP. Didn't even know this existed and reviews are excellent on all models.

I was looking at the Sideclick and found this alternative. Cheaper and seems to do the same things basically. But it apparently doesn't work with pre-2016 FireTV remotes.

I just use my phone to control the Roku and TV....free...and I like the Roku app better then the regular remote. Much more versatile and my old phone as a backup.

This decice works great. I use a firestick and SlingTV it was so frustrating trying to find both remotes. You can program each button to do just about any function. The downside is theres only the two extra buttons to program labeled A and B. Its a perfect decice for me however and much better quality of life than using your phone Smilie

"Free"

Except for either the Smart TV or the smartphone with IR transmitter you bought...
You don't use a tv to watch this ?Paid for that too. If he happens to have a smart tv that can be controlled by your phone it IS free.

you forgot to add: or does whoever lives with you also have a smartphone? Makes way more sense.

Sure, lots of possible scenarios. The point is having a single dedicated remote for TV and streaming device for $20 is easier all around.

They make (made) them for the old remote, I have a few of each:

They work well. The fit and finish of the battery tray is not great on all of them, so they come loose on occasion. It just depends on how you prefer your remote to be laid out.

Roku's new app is imprseeive, looks like the screen you see from a box.
