I had two Tivo Bolt's on my account I had purchased for $150 each that came with a one year subscription. Both ran out in January and February of this year. Today, on a lark, I called up and asked if there was any discount (I have three other tivos on my account) for service for them. I was offered LIFETIME (All IN) for $99. Needless to say, I took that deal on both boxes! I realize this will only be for a few select people out there, but if you do have a Bolt with no service, give them a call! Wait time was super short today as well. Hope this helps someone!

Seems hardly fair that the price would only be "for a few select people". Good business practice would be to have the prices set according to how many boxes you have. Also it should be good for older boxes and not just the Bolt.

Really an awesome deal. Tivo bolt is actually a fantastic unit. Unified search, season pass, commercial skip, etc etc

They really like these on account but not inactive use machines. In the end over 2-3 years they make a lot more money in Nielsen and other advertiser fees than the 99$ costs.

Are you trying to get it on an active box or an inactive box?

I tried it on an active box, rep swore up and down no promo exists, even for inactive box. He said a promo is coming later in June.

Anyone have any idea if the box had to be on your account at one time? Could you buy a used deactivated box and use this?

Going to try to get this done on an inactive on-account Bolt... 1-yr included ran out in January. This will be purely for resale because I've switched to HDHomeRun + Plex DVR/Live + Rokus because the MOCA connection to my Minis got EXTREMELY flaky about a month before the Bolt 1-yr expired and TiVo couldn't troubleshoot. HDHomeRun + Roku + Plex DVR + Xfinity App (for live) was a workable solution, and the recent addition of live TV w/ guide to Plex DVR has let me eliminate the need for Xfinity app as well.

Whats the best PlexDVR set top option that would be wife friendly?

As far as STB, anything modern running Plex should offer pretty much the same experience... Android TV, Roku, Fire TV, etc should all be pretty similar and AppleTV should be pretty similar in features with a bit more Apple UI flavor. Smart TV implementations of Plex may be more limited and I have no idea if/how they handle DVR and Live TV.

As for the server, you'll need to be using a PC or Nvidia Shield TV to get DVR functionality. The Shield TV seems like a good solution at first pass, but I found it to be buggy in general and even more buggy specific to Plex (even before moving to DVR). I may pull the Shield TV out and give it another try as a server for DVR since both Plex and the underlying Android have had major updates since I gave up on it.

+1 on PlexDVR solution. Tivo is winding down their hardware business anyway, already killed off Maverick.
