Bank of America Cash Rewards $150 Cash Signup Bonus - On their official page

+11 Deal Score
10,000 Views
This offer is back and official on their credit card page (I believe for a limited time). Although not as great as the $200 rewards they had a while ago, this is not bad as you get the reward $ on these categories and there is NO Annual fee

1% cash back on every purchase, 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs and 3% on gas for the first $2,500 in combined grocery/wholesale club/gas purchases each quarter

The catch: $150 cash rewards bonus is only after you spend $500 in the first 90 days

Their Pink Ribbon card, MLB, World Wildlife fund cards all have the same $150 cash bonus and the same reward categories and %. So you can apply for a few, in categories that you like.

Their Travel Rewards card offers 20,000 bonus points which is higher than the 10000 points they had before.

Definitely worth looking into if you have some money parked at Merrill Edge.

I can't recommend a BoA savings account due to their abysmal interest rates, but a taxable investment account or IRA at Merrill Edge can qualify you up to 75% bonus rewards. That means up to 2.625% rewards on all purchases with the Travel Rewards card, or 5.25% cash back on gas / 3.5% cash back on groceries and wholesale clubs with the Cash Rewards card.

Yep, I forgot to mention Preferred Rewards and how your rewards will add up if you qualify and enrol in one of those tiers. Thanks for mentioning that, repped you.

I saw this yesterday, but not sure since when it was effective.
You may want to call the BoA credit card customer service # and check the $ amount of rewards you are getting for the one you were approved for 3 days ago. If it's the old $100 offer, cancel the credit card that you applied for. And then apply for 1 or more cards with the $150 offer right away.

Good idea. I already have the Cash Rewards, but getting an MLB card nets me another $150 plus doubles the potential cash back from gas and groceries ($2,500 max spend per quarter).

Can I open several of these for $150 cash back on each? I just put the $500 on the original, can I sign up for an MLB one and do the same?

Good deal. Got the card and just hit spending $500 on it. Got an email the next day saying we were getting the $150 reward. Cool. I like that grocery stores get you 2% back, since we spend a significant amount at them.

Several cards give 2% back everywhere and a couple even higher.

Plenty give better than 2% in specific categories.

2% everywhere? And no annual fee? I guess I'm behind the times...
I was comparing it to my Costco visa, which gives 1% everywhere, but 4% on gas. Anyway, a lot of our spending is at grocery stores so I happy to get 2% with BofA Visa there. Got the card for that, and the $150 back. Still use Costco visa everywhere else.
Whats the best 2% everywhere card, and do it have a sign up bonus?

Yup. Citi doublecash is probably the best well known- and being a Citi card offers price protection and 24 months free added warranty too. No signup bonus though.

Depending where you buy gas, and how much you spend, you can pretty easily beat that in every way (except maybe use AT costco)

For example the average person spends around $1500 a year on gas... Chase Freedom offers 5x UR (or 5% cash back if you don't travel) at gas stations at least one quarter of the year (up to $1500 max)- and you can buy gasoline gift cards with it as gas stations-so as long as you tend to hit stations that offer gas cards you can get 5% (or 5x UR) all year on your gas.

DiscoverIT does the same at 5% normally, and in your first year of use it's doubled to 10% (and if you wait until the middle of the quarter to get the card you can double-dip the 10% on gas the second year as long as you buy the second years gas cards early in the quarter)

And you can even beat the 5% back on gas with a trick I mention further down.

You shouldn't be.

On the low end Amex Blue Cash Everyday (which often has a 100-200 dollar sign up bonus) offers 3% cash back on the first $6000 annually at grocery stores

If you spend a LOT at grocery stores the Amex Blue Cash Prefered gives you 6% back on grocery stores up to 6k a year (and also has a signup bonus)- it DOES have an annual fee of $95 though- math here is simple- if you spend more than $3172 at grocery stores the annual fee is worth it and beats the 3% CB on the "free" amex.

NOTE- with the annual fee card you get 6% back up to $6000 spend on ALL grocery store purchases.

Including gift cards.

Including gift cards for OTHER places.

Like gas stations. (or amazon, or anything else).
