Target reduced Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4 to $39.99, regularly $59.99
Cartwheel app has 30% off coupon [target.com] for subtotal of $27.99
Red Card Savings 5% reduces price to $2.59
California Tax 7.75% added totals 28.65

I did not have to price match! I requested the attendant to adjust the price to reflect the changes on the website; they were able to do so with no problems.
Just came back from the store with my purchase. I have GCU and purchased at Best Buy, but returned it for this deal.

Target also has other Cartwheel deals such as 25% off for Rachet & Clank, but I could not price match and have the Cartwheel app with my attendant. I had better luck in the past with doing so but not bad! So YMMV!

Is the price for Horizon Zero Dawn in store? I know online price is $39.99 but heard that in store price is higher.

I would also like to know this. PM + cartwheel has always been 50/50 for me and if I get shot down over a $4 difference from the GCU price it would defeat the purpose of driving to Target.

I went in store and the register was able to alter the price to match the website! Did not count as a price match.

What's the difference? What are the steps I need to take in-store to have the price reduced and not count as a price match?

1) load coupon on cartwheel
2) go to store and get game
3) during check out ask cashier to adjust the price to www.target.com
4) Scan cartwheel to get saving?

So pretty much like this? Does target not allow cartwheel coupon if the items was "price matched"?

These Cartwheel + Price Match to Target.com posts are ALWAYS YMMV, please add that to the title. It was the same thing for the Overwatch deal last time, most people were not able to reproduce:

Has anyone done this in store? Looks like just one person did so far. Can a cashier deny PM to website + cartwheel? Would rather not get in to an argument with a target cashier

I always have issues doing this at my local Target. They'll either price match their site, or use the cartwheel app only. I tried multiple times to get them to do both but they told me "It's against our polices" even tho everyone does it on here...

Worked for me. Total $28.19 after tax.
Thank you very much OP. The only reason I was able to get this was because I forgot to go to Best Buy on my way home from work! Unfortunately Nioh is out of stock at my Target, and this was the last Horizon.

I forgot what dicks Target employees can be. You'd have to be pretty lucky to get both Cartwheel and price matching 39.99. Tried two stores and was explicitly told that no price matching with cartwheel. At the second store I tried to buy a few games and accessories and after the price match I mentioned cartwheel for the other items, they checked and found it in my cart offers in Cartwheel and denied it.

OP add extreme YMMV to the title as most are not going to be able to get this "deal". I'll just buy from Best Buy with GCU instead.
