Good deal. $200 matches the Black Friday price after 20% off coupon from the last two years. I got an email a few weeks ago about a price drop on the B2 (now $180) so I wonder is Audioengine is dropping the price on the A2+ as well?

Edit: what it's worth Audioengine on eBay started auctioning off refurbished B2s after the price drop starting at $130. Might be worth keeping an eye on their eBay Store for the A2+ now.

That's a great idea. Would you mind sharing the link to their ebay store front? I searched, but alas no dice. Smilie

Here you go [ebay.com]

There's nothing good on there right now, just the normal prices (actually the B2 is higher than the current sale price!). But from what I've seen they list 3 B2's (on in each color) starting at $130 each week. They tend to auction off at around $130-140. I haven't seen any A2+ yet though.

Good speakers at $200. Would be best if you got a subwoofer to add to it.

Not really. I mean you could use them with a TV and they'd work fine (the auto power saving feature comes in handy here) but honestly they're kind of small for midfield use. You'd be better off getting something a little bigger like the Klipsch R-15PM, Kanto YUMI, Edifer R1700BT/R2000SB, JBL LSR305, Audioengine A5+ or Vanatoo Transparent Zero. Or go with passive speakers and an amp/receiver. You'll get more bang for your buck that way. But personally I do like the simplicity of powered speakers.

Edit: A few more worth considering: Rockville HTS8C, Microlab B77, Edifier R1280DB (bluetooth version of the R1280T)

There are so many powered speakers these days. Audioengine was one of the first and thus got a lot of attention, but now there are so many choices at much lower prices it makes the A2+ feel a bit dated.

I don't know. 15 watt speakers for $200? I would look further especially when one of the seemingly adept reviewers popped one open and found substandard and missing solder joints. They are attractive though and for low output use would probably be quite nice so I wouldn't think to diss them myself. I think everyone considering adding a sub might be tempted to overbuy in regards to power matching making for an imbalanced setup. Those wanting to use with televisions and computers have a plethora of choices and these meet those requirements. They shouldn't be expected to replace a good system for music though. In that case I want POWER for dynamic range. Just an opinion; your views may vary. (What would I choose? Too many alternatives depending on requirements. A cop-out? I suppose so sue me).

Great speakers and great company. I have the original A2, and I've been using the A5+ for several years now. Just be sure to get those wedge things too, otherwise they'll probably sound too bassy and muddled.
