Maybe they mean that it needs to be added to a TIVO account by the date. Possibly to discourage reselling.

4k Menu's, 3x faster processor, and the ability to display a 4k tv channel (whenever that comes to Spectrum) make it desirable for me.

I got the refurb Bolt 500GB deal at Thanksgiving. Looked brand new and has worked great since.

The Bolt+ is a no-brainer over the Roamio Pro for only $100 more.

I don't understand why they have the condition "must be activated by June 30th to receive advertised discount."

They're lifetime TiVos, it's not like they're getting extra income with this condition. I'm still SD/standard definition, and don't want the extra $10 HD charge just yet. Or can I "activate" it online somehow without a CableCard"?

You need a CableCard, but I didn't know that getting one would change the plan you are paying for.

Ahh, that made sense. So I just went on the TiVo site and clicked on the Activate section, and they say if you buy it directly from TiVo, it's already activated. Thanks, solves my defer-installation problem. Gotta be ready for the (rumored November?) Series 2 end of life, which will cripple my three lifetime Series 2s.

Just bought the 500 GB refurb Bold. Thanks OP!

I bought the Bolt 500G, figure I can drop my cable box rental and remote rental, pay the 10 a month for a card and in the long run save $. I kept an older box for 10 years.
