In case anyone who does not know the FAA no longer requires recreational users to register their drone. https://www.recode.net/2017/5/19/...-rules-faa

I had a very bad experience with altitude hold.
When I was ready to bring the drone to ground, it stopped at about a 25ft height. It wouldn't come down further even though the left gimbal was all the way down. So I pressed the "land/takeoff" button and the drone flew off up towards the skies.

Long story short: I tried to bring it down little by little by doing flips, but the battery fell out during one of them and the drone fell flat on the grass. One of the motors stopped working and it doesn't work anymore. I can't imagine what would have happened if I couldn't bring it down in a safe spot and it landed on expensive property, or worse, a person.

Hmmm...thinking about this. Good post! One reason I'm hesitating is because I had a Syma drone just like this - only a bit bigger - and it didn't last more than three weeks. But we used it a lot and it is fun! Just don't expect it to take continual beating and last a long time.

Was it this one, or a different model? The description says, "Built-in Micro USB charging port makes charging ". So, I don't see how the battery would fall out. Which could make it worse, I guess.

I guess, still seems a dumb question. He should no those places or not, not asting on here.
i mean i guess it's an alright question because although we can assume that it would be illegal to fly over the previous mentioned structures - i could not tell you for certain whether it would be legal or not legal . drones are sort of in a grey area because they are so new so maybe someone might know the actual legal response 2 his question .

i mean legally , can we fly over the freeway ? i would want 2 say it would not be legal but is it written in actual fact , that is is illegal ? i do not know and i think that's just what he wants 2 know .

but i'm sure google may yield some valid responses as well . . .

edit: i guess you could start here http://knowbeforeyoufly.org/

A quadcopter this size isn't restricted the same way the larger ones are. The FAA and other restrictions begin once the craft weighs Over .55 lbs (1/2 pound).
