Why would you buy a warranty that serves the exact time period of your manufacturer's warranty? And the manufacturer's covers door to door? All Hisense Tv's come with 4yr warranty.

Older sets came with 4 year. Newer models come with 1 year.

No, it is the previous version, but they are about the same unit after firmware updates on H7.

Thanks, but they cannot do that with a set that is already advertised at 4yrs. You would be grandfathered in or they would have a lawsuit on their hands. We still have laws in this country. If you advertise, (say its in the description, and right on the box) that the set you are buying comes with a 4yr warranty, they cannot reneg on that deal after a person makes the purchase....I'd like to see them try to get away with that with me. Essentially they are "phasing out" of 4 yr warranty. They cannot sell all of these TV's under the guise of a 4yr warranty plan and then not honor it. And if you are in this very boat as a consumer, you need to press that issue with Hisense. My first statement with their corporate office, were I in this position: "I don't care what your new policy is..."

Which begs the question, why would you pay for years 5 - 8? 4 years should be enough. Tv's are almost disposable now. You'd probably want a bigger, better technology TV, etc after 5 years, wouldn't you? I guess that's more of an opinion than anything else. If the warranty is concurrent, then it's useless. If it's after the manufacturer, I probably won't even have the same TV, or I would have used the warranty already...

Tell that to Pioneer Kuro plasma owners :-).

Yes, it is an option.
Even if it's concurrent then it may have some value (given how crappy mfr warranty terms can be).

How's the picture on this? I'm coming from a Panasonic high-end plasma. Unfortunately, they don't make plasma anymore.
