Is the $100 price difference between this and roundabout worth it?

Have a 2011 CR-V, with the car seat reclined all the way, cannot recline the front seats. For how good is it, that's a lot more research than what can easily be mentioned here.

Convertible car seats are huge. If you have a front passenger, you better have a full-sized SUV.

I have the Marathon, which I believe is about the same size, and while it's a little tight for passengers in the back of my Legacy, it's not terrible.

As for how good it is, you won't find better than Britax in terms of safety, and the ClickTight system is fantastic. It makes installing the car seat PROPERLY practically foolproof, and it takes about 30 seconds to do. My Marathon is the previous generation without ClickTight and there's just no comparison (just bought the Frontier with ClickTight a week or two ago).

There is an available anti-rebound bar [amazon.com] for this seat when used in the rear-facing configuration that makes it an incredibly solid and stable setup.

I'd agree that the ClickTight system provides a certain confidence about the fit. However, one disappointment I have with all the newer Britax car seats is the simple metal anchor hook they choose. of my two car seats, this makes the Britax the one I never try to move between cars. It provides a confident installation, but can be a real challenge to undo.

By contrast, if you're looking for a car seat that's easy to move between cars (esp. loaning to extended family) consider the Chicco with its very easy to use anchor buckles. I prefer the safety provided by the Britax anti-rebound bar for everyday driving (i.e. - the daily daycare commute) the Chicco system is handy in the second family car when I need to provide a loaner for a Saturday stay with the relatives.

Good luck!

Jon

My brother is about to have his first baby. Is this a good deal? Most Amazon car seats run $100, this seems super expensive. Why? Is this worth DOUBLE the price?

Since the ClickTight system is so convenient, we don't use the LATCH system for rear facing installs anymore, just the seatbelt. The only inconvenience is I can't move the seat forward or backwards anymore (second row minivan) without uninstalling the seat.
