I bought one of these last week, definitely worth buying. I really didn't realize how much nicer it is to just walk around measuring walls with this than a tape measure. Probably not a good idea for precision, but for getting an idea of the structural space your working with? Magic.

they do come in handy. This has a accuracy of 1/8 inch over 50 ft. how much more accurate are you going to get with a tape measure? my guess, probably less accurate with sagging etc. I have a Bosch which I think has accuracy to 1/16 but again I paid around 100 I think. plus this is a Kobolt (a brand name) unlike the cheap noname brands at even higher price range than this.

Great deal op! My Bosch stopped working a few weeks ago and I've been annoyed since. I purchased a new Bosch two days ago on Amazon, but I'll just return if this works as well and save myself 25 bucks. Thanks again OP!

Yeah and this one comes with a two year warranty. Since it's Kobalt, probably means you can walk into any Lowes and exchange it if have issues.

If you hold it at the end of the wall, does it take into account the thickness of the measuring device? If not you might be 3-4" off...

There are 2 measuring reference points - top or bottom. So no, will work fine

If you follow the link, there are a few pictures at the Lowes site with example of it measuring from rear of device
