I purchased this instead of the SB6183 since it was cheaper at the time and they both use the same broadcom chipset.

Completely reliable for the last 12 months that I have been using it (now at 100/10 speed).

Walmart has these for less than $30, I picked up 4 at $25/each. It is YMMV but these don't seem to be all that popular compared to Motorola/Arris so there were plenty available.

Details are posted in the Walmart YMMV mega thread I believe.

I manage to get a hold of 4 at $25 as well and was able to flip 3 for $55 each. I then returned the CM600 that I had bought from FRY's for $90 and haven't felt any drop off with an Orbi Router and 1 satellite.

I was having a lot of problems with an SB6183 the latency problems are a big issue with those PUMA chipsets. Nothing but great things to say about this CM500.

The SB6183 and CM500 have the same Broadcom chipset, so are comparable. It's the SB6190 that has the problematic PUMA chipset.

No. And in general it's not recommended to get a combo unit - better to have a separate modem and router.

Why separate units?
