Can bring on plane. It's rated just below 100W. This probably weight the same as apple charger with the extended cord and less bulky. Would be better if they would bundle a USB C charger with it.

Does it charge the LPT while it is sleeping or turned off? I have a 5220 and also interested...

Dell XPS 15 requires much more power than 30watts (130watts to be precise). You might be able to trickle charge off 30watts when powered off. Even my 87watt USB-C MacBook Pro 15" adapter gives a warning when I plug it into my XPS.
