Thanks. Haven't thought of this. I may try getting the military discount also at checkout. Would only make this one $47 more for me than the DWS779..then I could have the guide light and sell the stand.

Thanks OP, great price for the saw. This saw seems to be in the top three of any review, along with the Makita and the Bosch. Anyone cautioning against buying the DWS780? Btw-(HD offers 3 "bonus" items, a stand, a radio, and a rolling stand but it is goona be ymmv on the bonus stuff because the model #'s don't match. g.luck)

If you can get a 10% off coupon the discount is only 1 cent less, and much easier to find Smilie

Looks like the deal for the free stand ended. I picked it up on 6/21 when the dropped the price to $499 and the stand was still included, but it said on the site at that time the stand deal was expiring that night.

Was thinking the same. I think they just haven't updated the photo. The description says nothing of it; neither does adding to the cart.

Bet if you went in-store rang out both at the same time and got the price match you would be good. Also if you live near a Menards you can do the home depot 11 percent rebate match.

Seems the deal ended shortly after I posted this last night. But to answer your question, they are all great saws, Bosch @ 65lbs is great in a stationary environment. While the Makita and Dewalt both weigh 10lbs less. My biggest thing is you need to figure out whether you need a 12" saw in the in first place. If you have the room, go for it. Otherwise there are just as capable 10" options out there. Take a look at the Makita 1016L or the 10" Bosch cm10gd.

The deal is still there but its in store not online, buy the dewalt dws780 and get a free stand its available till july 4th. I purchase that saw 3 weeks ago and got the stand with the 10% so it came out to 587 with tax, tonight i seen the deal in lowes went and asked customer service if they could honor the new price even though i had the saw 3 weeks, they said yes and did it but, had to do a work around to get my 10% back. So i purchased the saw again, applied the 10% code, and she refunded the previous purchase and I never even brought my saw back. So now I am wondering if i cancel since it still says i didnt pick up new purchase if i get saw for free? lol So all in all the new price with tax was 489 with the 10% code. manager and everything said was best way to do it.

Now to the other questions about what saw to get, The dewalt dws780 is a awesome saw and for this price with the stand and 10% coupon its a awesome deal. It has a 16 inch crosscut, that bosch is only 14" Overall i think the bosch is a awesome saw also, Where the bosch shines is its hinged slide mechanism, it is smooth as hell. The bosch is on display in my local HD, and comparing the 2 side by side for the slide functionality alone bosch probably beats out every other sliding miter saw. The dewalt and every other slide i tested using the linear rail system has drag because of so much weight when it is extended. So take that into consideration, if this current deal didnt pop up with the dws780 at 499, I prob would have returned it and got the bosch which is 599 without a stand. The second part where this bosch shines is 0 clearance in rear of saw, so u can push it basically all the way to the wall which is very nice for a fixed miter station inside ur shop. The dewalt and every other linear rail system the rails protrude behind saw when the blade is pushed all the way back to the fence. Just something to keep in mind. Both great saws, But one of the other bonuses of the dewalt is its dual light system which is far more accurate than laser systems, creates a shadow of the blade kerf so what u see is what is getting cut exactly.

To my knowledge there are no more 50 off 250 codes, unless lowes reactivated them.

The $499 deal is intended to be for the saw only, the free stand deal expired on the 21st as others have mentioned. There may have been the one day on the 21st with the overlapping deals but the $499 is for the saw only and the picture on the web site is now corrected. Still an awesome deal for this saw, sweeter with 10% off.
