No wide color gamut and very dim TV. This means HDR content will not be very good on this TV. Move along....

Was considering the 2017 m65. Jump to p series is $500 more, which is more than I'm willing to spend. You have any suggestions for a better set for around 1200?

I see three possibly choices for you: #1 - Wait for a better deal on a E-series as a stop gap for OLED to drop in price a bit more: https://slickdeals.net/f/10185332-bj-s-wholesale-refurbished-tv-deals-refurbished-samsung-un65ku62...

#2 - Bump up a few hundred from 1200 and grab an OLED deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/10260716-lg-oled65c6p-65-curved-oled-4k-hdr-tv-2099-fry-s-1599-with-pp?sr...

#3 - Wait for the 2017 65" TCL Roku TV to come out later this year. It will more than likely be less than $1K. https://www.theverge.com/circuitb...lease-date

If you buy Vizio anything refurbished is the way to go imo but either way buy the warranty. Personally I think all the refurbished are due to something faulty in the lighting. I've had 2 refurbished 32 inch smart tv vizio for 2 years no problems & 60 inch that I bought last year that wasn't refurbished, had this lighting issue, dimmed in sections & they just replaced it with refurbished e60 SmartCast 4K (was not happy that my replacement had no tuner, we like our antenna, still working on this w/vizio) but after a lot of research it seems refurbished by vizio does not simply mean "customer return" only but "returned due to defect which vizio is aware of & will fix just hope you have warranty to get replacement" ☺️ Tv looks great though

Might be worth a check but I was in my local Walmart today and saw a new 65" M-series Vizio in their stack of one-offs and closeouts. Price was $1199 so might be worth checking out. Sadly I'm in market for sub-$500 55/60" 4k and avoided the 55" TCL for $398 (though may go back....so cheap!)

The 2017 V65" M65 will be on sale at costco next week for $999. Seems like a good deal. I'm personally waiting to see reviews of the TCL P series that just came out. The 65" model will supposedly be around $1,000 when it releases later this year.

Did you check the menu settings that they were using? Stores typically use the "dynamic" picture mode to make everything extremely bright which washes out the real colors. Using those settings in your much dimmer living room for hours at a time would give you a headache. Next time try checking the settings and move it to "movie" mode or something similar. It's really hard to make a decision seeing a TV in the store. Unless its an OLED at least, haha.

Sister purchased a refurbished Vizio (70" E-Series) recently from Wal-mart and screen came cracked. Was poorly packaged (non-original box). Had to return it to store and it was OOS so couldnt get a replacement.
