If you have some Dell eGift cards to keep rolling this is a cheap 27" monitor. Hard to find reviews since it is pretty new. Please no flaming on the "Dell HDR" I know it is not true HDR. Dell's site says: "Dell HDR (high dynamic range) combines greater depth of colors, remarkable clarity and a high contrast range of shades to create strikingly accurate images." I have one coming on Monday so I'll post my thoughts about it soon. Also, I know a lot of people say 1920x1080 on a 27" is not good, but others say it is fine.

If you go through a cashback site (as you should) the price might go up. You will need to Deals-->Employee, Student, and Military Discount. Then just click on Employees and you shouldn't have to add any more information to get the lower price.

Seems no VESA mount. That's a big downer for me. Glad went with BenQ 27". Only need these for working occasionally from home.

I think this is HDR10, it says in the description: "Entertainment without exceptions: Watch your HDR10 movies like they were meant to be seen. Even your HDR games and photos will boast a lifelike experience."

I hope you're right, but From what I read it is not true HDR. This is a quote: "Dell has labeled these monitors as "Dell HDR" but since the official specifications of these monitors reveal maximum brightness of 250 nits and only a 99% sRGB color gamut, they don't qualify for the HDR10 support. The Dell HDR label is most likely a built-in feature which enhances image quality, which is not nearly as effective as HDR10 or Dolby Vision. To clarify, in order for a monitor to be eligible for the HDR (High Dynamic Range) format and its expanded color and contrast range, it needs to meet some taxing demands such as a peak brightness of 1000 nits, 10-bit color panel, and a vast coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Since the Dell S2718NX and the other models feature only an 8-bit color panel, 250 nits of brightness, and only 99% of the sRGB color space, they are no more close to HDR than most of the IPS panel monitors out there. Supposedly, the Dell HDR is an image manipulating feature which enhances some parts of the picture for more life-like details, much like some smartphone cameras do, for example.

Regardless of the HDR confusion, the 8-bit IPS panel still produces a vibrant image quality with vibrant and accurate colors, impeccable viewing angles of 178 degrees, and quick 6ms response time. Additionally, all of these monitors will have a low blue light filter and a flicker-free screen which will allow you to watch the screen for hours without feeling eye fatigue."

I found a video of a different size of this model and they showed in game footage with the HDR off and on and it did make a huge difference

It does have FreeSync technology, but i think i saw somewhere that you can't have the HDR setting on while using it

I found a video of the S2418H and it looks exactly like this one, so i assume it is. When they changed the preset mode to HDR then the 3840x2160 resolution is available to choose

I have no clue what a vesa mount is and why they are so popular. Off to Google it, since it must be important

Useful especially with multiple monitors. Without the vesa mount capability the multiple monitor setup might take up more space and might not be aligned.

I wouldn't touch a 27" FHD personally.

I went from dual 24s at 1920 to a 28" 2560x1440 and never looked back, upgraded to a 4k 28", now I have a 4K 43" Samsung TV as my monitor.

If you have poor eyesight, this one will be fine, but I'd give a higher resolution a try before, especially if you ever like to use multiple office apps at once or have a couple spreadsheets open.

A 28" 2560 can be found under $200 and occasionally you can find a 4K for just slightly more.

Again this is only my opinion, I've been through near 100 monitors since I was a kid and higher resolutions have been a godsend. I don't really game and use mine mostly for productivity and web surfing. Also Craigslist is flooded with dirt cheap FHD monitors if you don't want higher resolution, but 100% worth the additional cost imho.

I bought this monitor about 2 months ago. Have been very happy with it! It's not "true HDR", but that doesn't really matter to me personally. It's a beautiful IPS display, and one of the only cheap IPS displays that support Freesync and 75hz. This is for gamers who want great picture, adaptive refresh rate without breaking the bank, and don't really care about 4k gaming. I have not had any luck getting this panel to run at 3840x2160, even in HDR mode like @NathanH4180 mentioned. But it is identical to the S2418HN, that model just has speakers in the stand.

Also, there is no VESA mount (@geocacher99, that means it doesn't have holes in the back to mount it to a bracket or a stand), but I have reached out to Gladiator Joe and they sent me this response on 5/17:

Hi there,

We have designed an adapter for the DELL S2718H model of monitor. We are waiting for samples from the factory. I estimate the adapter available in approx 2-4 weeks for order and distribution.

Thank you and kind regards,

Elizabeth
It's been 5 weeks now so it should be out any day now... Judging from their other adapters, it should run ~$20

Vesa mounts let you mount your monitor to an arm
