Been using my tablo for a couple years now, and have never had any problems. It's been essential in my cord cutting endeavors.

The newer version only has 2 tuners, I believe. This is a great price, as the refurbs from the company used to cost $240 and even now their price has only dropped to $200.

So $193 for new is a good deal.

Yep, its $150 for lifetime. So you're looking at $350ish total.

I picked up the tivo roamio OTA with lifetime for $199 last BF and a mini for $79 with lifetime. If you want to stream from the tivo you need a tivo stream for $100 or so.

You can also have a PC automatically schlork the shows off the tivo, strip the commercials and offer them up via plex by using kmttg.

Between the tivo and PS Vue I'm having all of my needs met coming from Directv's $180/mo plan and a genie. I paid about $350 up front for the gear including a huge attic antenna, and now just $30/mo for PS Vue.

Tablo is great if you want to stream to more than 2 devices or your antenna is somewhere you can't get near to a tv, like in the attic. A little overpriced otherwise compared to tivo when they have deep sales.

PS Vue worked best for me but mostly because I'm a dvr person and they have unlimited DVR storage, I hardly ever watch anything including sports live. I got the basic + sports package for $35/mo which includes the ESPN channels and NFL network. Only CBS is live in my area, so I supplemented with a tivo.

PS Vue also lets you authorize any of the channel apps on a roku/fire/whatever, even the ones like ABC/NBC/FOX in my area that are on demand, I can use their 'NOW' apps to watch live tv, sports and the other shows they have.

24 hours of free guide data. You pay for 2 weeks.

I've had few issues with the free guide data.

I use Tablo + DirecTV Now $35 package. Cut my bill by $100/month and I have a better user experience.

The AppleTV hardware just destroys Comcast and DirecTV boxes.

I knew there wasn a reason I never bought this before because of the HD required. The setup would be more complex and expensive once you bought every thing else you need.

I've been without any cable, dish networks everything except OTA and Netflix for over 6 years and I don't even miss all those channels. It's real nice just to pay $9.99 a month to Netflix and get everything else I watch free.

No HDMI is because it doesn't hook up to tv, just into your network and you stream to all tvs with Roku, apple tv etc.

Not really complicated at all. The antenna and hard drive plugs into the Tablo, the Tablo plugs in your router (either through wifi or ethernet). Your tv receives the signal via the app or media streamer like Roku, FireTv, AppleTv, etc. Phones, tablets and computers can stream straight from the app.

As far as price, I got mine at Fry's for $250 and paired it with a 3TB My Book for $90. I already had a FireTv but you can use the cheaper sticks.

I opted to pay the $150 for the guide because of the added features but it's not really needed. You can still record a "season pass" for shows, it just records by time and channel as opposed to show name. The $150 lifetime sub allows you to season pass by name.

So for me, it's pretty much on par price wise with all the other brands, like Tivo in order to stream to multiple tv's and better than having to buy "mini's" for every tv. Plus the ability to control/set to record things when not home is handy.

The ability to add an external drive is a blessing. It allows you to connect any size USB drive you have available without any hassle. I've got a 4TB drive hooked up to it and it's already running low on space. I might add a 10TB drive in the future. If you pay the one time fee for the lifetime subscription, there are no monthly fees and it is not hard to set up at all. The only thing that keeps me from giving a glowing recommendation for this device is that there is no option to adjust the volume with the app and the volume is annoyingly low. This forces me to constantly change volume levels when I switch from watching tablo to everything else like netflix and youtube. Not everyone has this issue with their Tablo however. I'd give up Netflix before I give up my Tablo.

Going to be a sad day for me when Microsoft stops supporting WMC with its free guide. Then I will have to buy a Tablo. BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!
