Pop up on Xfinity home page

518 352 June 29, 2017 at 03:56 PM
Just about every time I go to Xfinity home page to check my email I get a pop up
Saying my Safari browser has been randomly selected for a $1000 gift card to a merchant and they have Walmart,Amazon etc. listed along with some probably fake testimonials.
Has been happening for about a week now with my iPhone SE on Virgin Mobile network.
Hasn't been doing it on any other websites but it did come up once today when I entered a search in the title bar for something I was looking up.
Tie search.com usually comes up as the web address when it pops up. Anyone else running into this?

There are a number of possibilities, but the first thing you should try is installing google chrome https://www.google.com/chrome/
and then use it to access your webmail and see if the same thing happens.

Why do conservative politicians oppose conservation?
Have you ever stopped to think the long-term GOP immigration policy might be to make the United States of America a less desirable place to live than Mexico?

Actually was using DuckDuckGo up until today I switched it to Google. Same thing happens on my iPad mini 2 using wifi connection.
Just tried it on my Fire tablet with Silk browser and Nexus 7 tablet with older Chrome browser and neither one of them had the problem.

Checked my email yesterday and today with my phone and had no problems.
So hopefully either Comcast or Apple corrected what the problem
was.

It's possible your router was hacked. Reboot and then install the latest software.

It was also happening on my home wifi network when I checked my Comcast email with my iPad mini. But that seems to have cleared up now also.

It's likely the Xfinity.com web page is what got hacked, and why you're seeing this crap.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Was just wondering if somebody who reads this and has an Xfinity account could try logging on to the web page with Apple Safari browser on phone or IPad and checking their email and see if the same thing happens.
Not by using an Xfinity app of some type but going to their home page with Safari browser.
It's pretty bad that a major player like Comcast can't keep their home page secure.
A similar type thing happened like 6 months ago and lasted like a week or something like that but then stopped, but it seems more intrusive then before.

I've gotten the same offers in my iPad. I pinged the web address and the IP address came back with an Amazon linked company or a like-named company. Either Comcast has serious security problems, or these parties are just hungry for your information to sell for marketing purposes.
