Gonna be that guy but not sure how a $300 cooler is ever a slick deal when you can get an equivalent Coleman for $60. Buy the Coleman and a you can wallpaper your truck with Yeti stickers with what you've saved.

Plus, most of the people that do buy them never use the reason for buying them, which is to keep things cold for several days. Most use them for an afternoon at most.

You're exactly right. If you're about to go camping with Bear Gryllis sure, get the Yeti. But for normal use it's merely a vanity purchase.

I've got a trip to Lake Powell planned in October. It's one of my favorite places to go. And you're right.... Yeti and RTIC are the only coolers I know of that will hold ice for a week at Powell. I'm sure there are new coolers that have the same effectiveness but I don't know them. All I know is that I don't need to do any of those mid week trips to Wahweap Marina for ice.

That's pretty amazing. Will they hold ice for that long (without melting or minimally melting) when left outside and in high temps? Or do they hold ice like that under very specific or certain conditions?

Something like that would have been great for prior Baja Mexico fishing trips where there are no freezers and you constantly have to buy new ice to refresh/replenish. It's crazy how fast ice was melting in our regular coolers even while leaving the coolers inside (though, the rooms weren't running AC *all* day either)
