Anything GE is junk, stay away. Fridges, washers, dryers and D/W are all garbage. They keep coming to repair under warranty, then they just fail after a couple years, anyway (and nope, you won't be fixing them b/c they cannot be repaired or the parts are insanely expensive).

Yes GE got out of the he appliance business last year.

My opinion about front loading washers, is that they are great if you are 5' ,7" or under.
I personally fill my clothes up to a medium load, and let them soak with only a tablespoon of detergent. Then in an hour, it fills up, and begins washing. Everything comes out clean, and less rinse is needed. I programmed it to do this.

But does this hurt the fabrics having the detergent eat away at it for so long?

Well, I always use a fraction of the normal amount. Besides, many washers have a soak function anyways.
Don't use pods if you soak.

old stuff off craigslist LOL

Seriously, stuff 10+ years old works. They're simple and usually pretty easy to repair. Good ol analog instead of digital disasters. Anyone upgrading gives their old appliances away for cheap or free. Get a truck and haul em home. Of course, I would test em first if paying.

Idk about 500, but you can get fisher & paykels for 700. They're not for abuse by retarded tenants (then, again, what is), but they make very nice home appliances (in my experience, but you know how it is, ymmv lol).

Front loaders have to be consistently cleaned and the shocks can wear out early if you overload (and they won't clean clothes when overloaded). The soap trays need cleaned out, too.

All new appliances seem to have quirks and defects. All the added electronics is a massive failure. Even the cheapo D/W, which still use the same ol designs (that were very reliable) are just problematic.

I'd probably just pick up the most basic top loader washer/dryer that's not GE LOL. Seriously, I can't even turn these bastards on b/c there's a solenoid built into the motor that keeps it running when you push the button. They fail and are non-replaceable in the new models. For what the motor assembly costs, just buy another.

i'm shopping for new washer but i don't see the $499 for the model you mention

i'm looking at the goedecker website and I found this for a little more $613 no tax for me.

https://www.goedekers.com/Whirlpo...HEFW.html. it's a whirlpool, has a bigger capacity 4.5 and comes with steam cleaning. seems like a better purchase
