I picked this up yesterday while I was in the store. Decided to bite on it because the combo with this trimmer and a blower I ordered for $170 a few weeks ago is on backorder and I doubt it will ever ship. I don't necessarily need the blower and the combo came with the same battery.
If I needed the blower I probably would have grabbed the bigger one which is on sale for $99 right now and then I'd have a second battery for $30 more than the combo I originally ordered.

crap, just checked my email and the first order shipped. Guess I'll keep the combo and return the trimmer I bought yesterday. Glad I didn't pull everything out of the box yet.

This is a great trimmer. Works for 45+ min through tall grass and weeds. Works no problem with my old hedge trimmer attachment too.

Bought the blower w/ battery on Father's Day for $150, trimmer was the same price. (Home Depot). Thanks to the thread, went back to the store for $50 back. Picked up the trimmer too - they sell these tools online separately (w/no battery) for cheaper, but the battery on the shelf was going for $100. Getting the full tool w/battery for $100 seemed a no-brainer.

Edit - actually, I think this is a duplicate thread. Still, good deal.

I guess not technically a duplicate thread, the blower, hedge trimmer, and string trimmer sharing the 40-volt battery are on sale at the same price as mentioned in the comments here:

Not used to a non-corded blower, didn't seem as powerful as I'd hoped, but can't wait to get my non-corded string trimmer.

I'm hoping to get rid of my gas mower in the next year or two.

Should I wait for a deal on the GreenWorks trimmer?

Had one. Broke in less than a year. The line it comes with is too thin and breaks easy. Doesn't have anywhere near the power of a gas trimmer.

Which one did you have? GreenWorks, or the Ryobi? With the blower I was hoping the 40v battery would compensate for the lack of power from a corded blower, but still felt a bit week. And most of the deals and promotions have been with 18-20 volt versions, can't imagine what those most be like. I guess just really light duty stuff.

I bought this earlier and I can say that you are wrong...this thing is good and I don't like Ryobi at all. Plus it has a 5 year warrenty

Try using .080 line instead of .065 line, makes a huge difference.

Switch out the head for one that allow you to use blades or lines. Works like a charm. I even use it to edge.

Did you do this? What did you buy?

I have the 18V trimmer/edger and I love it. I use it for weeds and edging. I want to replace the head to edge so I don't go through my string so fast.
