Hide quoted posts from ignored users?

5,376 1,989 July 3, 2017 at 03:53 PM
This is a feature request. Is it possible to make it so that if I have a particular user on ignore, when that user posts a comment and another user quotes it, it will not show up? If the whole post including the quoted comment is hidden that would work too.

There is a user that really gets under my skin. He sets my blood on boil when I see his abrasive comments. Although I have him on ignore already for a long time, I can still see his quoted posts when another user quotes and replies to his comments.

Thanks!

That suggestion makes a lot of sense. We'll add it to our list of enhancements to investigate and see how hard it would be to implement. Thanks!

Thanks! I'm hoping it's easy to implement so that it can be done and won't cause any problems.

What a great suggestion! And what an outstanding enhancement.

I find myself less inclined to visit SD due to incurring quoted posts by posters placed on ignore.

Time is precious. And the less time spent on reading our "placed on ignore due to being responded to" posters is a positive.

Might be off topic but are "ignored" users also blocked from seeing/commenting on your posts?

If people are mutually ignoring one another than yes. Otherwise, the ignored can still see/comment on the ignoree's.

Just curious.. Is this still the case? Ignorees can still see posts if someone ignores them? There is no way to block someone from seeing your posts, like on facebook?

Yes, that is correct.

Makes sense...had people I ignored say rude things in quotes directed at me before. I like this idea.

Would you prefer them to do it to you with a different account? Controlling their ignore list wouldn't have mattered if they were logged out and spying. Makes it harder to track too. Is this ass#1 or ass#2?

Hello everyone in this thread! I have a question about this functionality which could decide our direction. It's significantly easier to hide the entire post if it contains quoted material from a blocked user than it is to try to hide only the blocked user's text. Would that suffice or is that troublesome for any reason?

Just hide the quoted block with CSS. Some replies are multi-quotes or contain extra comments not related to the quoted user.

Hiding the entire post is much better and I would prefer that way. I have seem in other forum software that the ignored user's quoted post is hidden with a link to unhide it. That is pointless to me. If I want to read some of his posts, I shouldn't have him on ignore anyways. Also seeing multiple angry replies to the ignored user's quoted post but with the "click to unhide post" really sucks too.

Thank you for trying to make this feature request happen!
