Just a reminder that dirt cheap certified refurbished 2-3 year old routers are all over eBay. Do yourself a favor - find one that supports DD-WRT, buy 3, and blanket your home in a wireless network with a wired backbone (run cat-5 from eBay through attic or something).

It beats any of these crazy AC routers with 32 antennas on the market, and can usually be done for less than $40 or so. Performance also beats the wireless mesh type networking options.

I'm not sure about other manufacturers, but our refurbished products go through several steps before they reach market. First, the units are de-boxed... every one of them. They get a once over for cosmetics. If damaged, they go straight to scrap. The ones that pass will go to diagnostics where they are checked to make sure they are working properly. If not, we don't fix them, they go directly to scrap. The ones that pass diagnostics will then get re-boxed with all the parts and quick start guide.

Combine all that with a 90 day warranty. Each step costs us labor, but it's worth it to bring a Linksys Certified Refurbished product to market.

You just need a router. Put your AT&T box in bridge mode, then connect it to the router. Bridge mode basically disables the router portion of your AT&T box.

I see that Linksys firmware 1.06 and newer has added the ability to turn off the extender transmitters...so you can use it as a wireless access point or media bridge (with audio out jack).

With 4 gigabit ethernet jacks it should be great for that, at less than 1/2 the cost of the LInksys bridges. In for one.

Do you mean as a wireless bridge? Uhh for a second I thought you were saying it can be turned to a wired access point like RE7000 but I couldn't find anything in the firmware release note.Frown

Yes. I just want a faster Wi-Fi connection to my wired entertainment components, and this will do it.
