Starting off with the disclaimer that I haven't been fishing in 20 years, would this be a decent starting pole? My daughter has expressed interest and I got a kids one for her, but need one more me.

These are not really seen as beginners poles just check out you tube these are more of a midrange to higher end pole. In saying that im not a pro and wanted a pole that would last so I picked up 2 of the elite 5 bearing spinner combos for about $40 a pc I like them and the 2 pc setup may not be desirable for a pro but it is very convenient to have a 2 pc type as I am a car owner.

Technically no, but with proper care it would serve as a light duty saltwater rod.

Meh, even though I'll rinse them off after fishing. They might stay on the boat. So I'll get a true salt water rod.

Credits and other promotions are completely irrelevant. If I got $25 from some other deal and bought this, that doesn't mean it was "free".
