Specialty cameras are employed to record media in richer colors. This rich layer cannot be displayed on a regular television, so HDR equipment is required.

Some could explain HDR using layman's language?

HDR is good but keep in mind that you also need HDR content so as to be able to see the difference otherwise it is meaningless.

People always say this isn't real hdr or 120 or 4K.

So is this tv all those things?

Hisense sure is late to the game getting the 2017 Lineup out. I'm interested in some reviews of the H8C equivalent 2017 model when it gets released. It should give this new 55" TCL model a run for it's money. Maybe even be available to buy let alone no three month wait to cover all the RMA's like the TCL has.

Was waiting for a good price on the H8C to appear since I missed the last deal. I know one major concern with people is that they have slashed the warranty down from 4 to 1 year. Not a deal breaker for me honestly. I'm curious what is the differences between H6D vs H8C? I'm sure if I'm patient enough, a H8C deal will pop up.

Put the model in the title. Hisense 55" doesn't tell you anything at all.

Not sure about this model, but the H8C I have has had no updates since I purchased it last year around BF time. You can get HDR but not with the internal app, I have a Chromecast Ultra and a Shield that both support HDR so it isn't an issue but I was hoping the internal apps would get support. It also requires a lot of tinkering with the settings to get the proper color you want. There are lots of color profiles online to look at but in the end you'll need to tweak to your particular living room settings.

It's a great TV but again, support is really limited, my brother's Samsung 6300 has had like a handful of updates and got HDR support for internal Netflix and Youtube apps and Hisense hasn't moved at all.

OH SNAP... I think I'm going with the TCL. I really like the Roku and my Hisense is having an issue loading the thumbnails for the apps in the smart view. Thanks for posting this!
