My local Staples had this laptop and I did play with it for a while. IMO the deal breaker here is its keyboard. It's one of the worst laptop keyboard I've ever seen, with an exceptionally small direction key and shift key, very annoying to type, not to mention shallow travel. If you need the laptop as a type writer then I suggest you look elsewhere.

Also the screen is a bit dark, but it's acceptable tho.

Why is the TD? This 2-in-1 is a pretty good, can be upgraded and the Trackpad is very good as per various reviews. Only down side is having single USB 3.0 port.

It is a great laptop and a great deal! Don't let the haters bring you down. This one is $599 at Costco for the exact same specs. So this @ $549 is a great find.

With all this said, I see it being 499 very soon.

Costco had this at $499 for a while. I'm sure it'll come back at that price.

Are you sure this is the same laptop because the images show large shift keys that do not look undersized?

The typewriter reference threw me off. Most modern laptops are going feel like there's no key travel when compared to a typwriter. The 15" version is a solid machine, especially after an easy SSD upgrade. I'd like to check this one out in person. The 15 (R series) also has a usb-c port. Does this, along with the usb 3?

I bought almost the same laptop over a year ago with a 6th gen i5, 8gb, 256gb ssd, touch screen, backlit keyboard. It was a refurbished model but I only paid 400...

Is it a plastic chassis? How was the off angle viewing - wonder if it's really IPS?

If it says IPS, why would it not be "really" IPS? Are you still in shock from 31-0? LMAO

Now you say so... I'm not sure if Spin 5 did have an alt version that fixed the Shft key, but I'm certainly sure that laptop i played when I was there was a Spin 5.

Plastic chassis. Front cover was brushed aluminum tho. Screen was glass cover, but the palm and everything else was plastic. The back look really cheap, but... who care.

Screen was definitely IPS, color look terrible, but watchable. Not a bright one, even maximum brightness was barely an okay for me, but we may have different taste here. Viewing angle was also an OK. Overall as I said keyboard is a deal breaker. I already saw many laptop with same price range had much better keyboard. Other than that, solid 2-in-1

ThinkPad E was the best laptop for typing in this price range, fyi

If this were an I7 I'd be all over it.

How big of a difference would the i7 really make, especially still being the "u" series? I'd happily take the i3 version if it would save me $100 or so.

Leaning towards the HP for $525 at BB. Storage is not an issue and the HP seems to be better build quality.
