Samsung 55 Inch Curved 4K Ultra HD Smart TV UN55MU6500F UHD TV - $799.99 with $300 and $47 promotional gift cards, (free shipping)

Dell Home and consumer has the Samsung 55 Inch Curved 4K Ultra HD Smart TV UN55MU6500F UHD TV for $799.99. Through cashback sites you can get 12% off today. They also have a $300 gift card and you can get 6% back as a gift card if you use a Dell preferred financing account (free signup) or 3% if you use a Dell advantage account (free signup).

So the math is:
$799.99 plus tax (I paid $50.80 in tax in CT)
12% cash back (minus $96)
$300 dell gift card (90 day expiration)
$47 Dell advantage preferred gift card (this cannot be sold)

Obviously dell gift cards don't sell for full price. I personally buy items with them and resell them on craigslist. I have actually turned a profit doing this.

$799.99 + $50.80 (tax) - $96 (cashback) - $300 - $47 = $407.80 plus tax (free shipping)

You should mention that it's a promo gift card with a 90 day expiration.

Dell promo cards and dell advantage points are not cash and do not lower the price. TD until you fix the title.

So the real math is:
$799 + $64 (8% is national average for sales tax) - $96
Total is $767 out of your pocket, plus a $300 promo card and $47 advantage points.

You can sell the promo card and turn it into cash, but you will not get anywhere near $300 for it after about a 20% reselling loss, 10% ebay fees and 3% paypal fees. You will be lucky to get $200-225 when all is done (assuming you dont get scammed and lose it all). The dell advantage promo code cannot be sold.

Final out of pocket will end up being around $550, not the $357 BS you claimed.

It will end up being closer to $550 after selling the promo card and fees. Really not a very good deal for the amount of work involved.

I have achieved much better returns on my Dell gift cards than you list. I've sold a $250 gift card for $220 before on ebay. Typically I actually buy things with them and resell the physical item. This has frequently made me more money than the gift card but it is some work.

The other front page deals for 55" TV's today are $500-600 with tax additionally, and they are for a 2016 model that is not curved. This is for a 2017 model with curved screen, so it's simply a better version at a cheaper price than what is already front page, although you have to turn around the Dell gift cards.

$220, and then the 10% fee to sell it...under two hundred dollars for a $250 card, that's over twenty % loss

I base things on ebay sales history for $300 promotional gift cards, not your personal claims. Last 60 days, most common sales price is $245-250. There were a few that sold as high as $270, but its never smart to bet on getting max values.

If it sells for $250, you will walk away with about $215 after all fees and shipping.

The Vizio M55-d0 is a better TV and cheaper.

That's the 2016 KU version. This is the 2017 MU version. I price checked this deal, and the TV is listed on Best Buy, amazon, costco for $800-900 currently.

I was thinking about that Vizio overnight vs the other Samsung frontpage deal for the 2016 non-curved model. I looked up a lot of reviews and couldn't tell that either was really different. Both are 60hz, both were 2016 models, and both technically supported HDR but didn't have the color gammut to really take advantage. I was really debating getting the Vizio or the Samsung non-curved 2016 model that is front page currently. The Samsung deal has more thumbs up than the Vizio deal. This is essentially the newer, curved screen model of the existing front page Samsung deal.

I went with this one because it's 2017 model, curved. If you can convince me that the Vizio is better I may change my order.

Samsung MU6300 (MU6500 is same TV just curved)
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu6300

Vizio M55-d0
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/...eries-2016

The Vizio M is rated slightly better in nearly every category. In the end, they are pretty similar pictures but the Vizio deal is cheaper, making it the better choice. The Vizio will be about $497 out of pocket when all is said and done, this Samsung will be about $550 out of pocket.

How do curved screens affect viewing angles?

Also, to understand your math:
$850 - $96 cash back - $210 (lets say this is all you walk away with after selling the ebay gift card) = $544.

BUT, you still have a $47 dell gift card, which is not useless. I also really think I'm going to walk away with more than $210 from my $300 gift card. Also, what is the value of having a model one year newer that's curved? Is it actually the same screen as the 2016 model? I don't really know.

If the Vizio is the better TV, then why is the Samsung 55" on the front page getting many more thumbs up than the Vizio even though it is more money?

The $47 rewards promo cannot be sold. So it is not worthless, it is worth exactly $47 towards something Dell sells. Either way it doesnt lower your out of pocket expense.

If you think you can get more than $215, then more power to you and good luck. FYI, when dell deals go front page, ebay gets flooded with promo cards for sale, driving the price down even further.

There is no benefit to a curved TV, just a gimmick. I dont kknow if its the same screen as the 2016, that is why I posted the 2017 review.

Samsung is getting more Thumbs Up because it is FAR less work. No annoying promo cards to deal with and risk getting scammed. No cash back to wait for. No dealing with Dell Customer Service if there is an issue. Far less hassle for similar quality TV.
