Newegg has the 4TB HGST NAS drives on sale for $139.99 - $10 coupon code EMCRHRH26 = $129.99. This matches previous popular deals and is the lowest I've seen these drives at. Way better than WD or Seagate. Cheers!

TBF, WD owns HGST. Also, what makes you say WD or Seagate are bad?

Ha yeah good point on WD and HGST.
Reason why I say WD and Seagate aren't as good: I've got 20 HDD's spinning between a few different NAS's. I've had multiple WD's fail and Seagates fail during warranty and right after warranty. I've got 4 HGST's spinning for over 2 years without a hiccup. Clean SMART data etc. I switched to them because of the backblaze articles from a few years ago. Here is an updated one for 2017:

Yeah, I've seen the most recent article. Outside of the 3 TB Seagates, WD and Seagate look pretty solid honestly. It's hard to not go with HGST if the other drives are the same price and all offer 3 years warranties. But I'd probably go with a slower drive for a NAS than this 7200.

interesting article, ty for that.

Would that recommendation be the same for a storage drive in desktop (not in a RAID)?

my primary drive is a Samsung 960 EVO. Thanks! ^^
