This unit is advertised as working up to a 4L engine, which equates to about a medium-sized 6 cylinder engine. Battery manufacturers recommend 700-800 CCA for a 6 cylinder engine. That being said, I've noticed that other jump starters advertised as being good for larger engines (5.0L), but having much lower CCA ratings (400 CCA). You can draw your own conclusions.

you'd think they would put that CCA spec in bold instead of the useless stuff above.

Based on the Q&A's on Amazon it might, but they don't recommend or guarantee it.

Won't do a v8, I tried - tuckmasterfunk answered on July 25, 2015

Yes, I used it on a high compression 350 Chevy Dino.ed at 450 H.P. The ignition had been left on accessory and the battery was completely dead. The Kayo Maxtar started it right up after letting it sit for about 2 minutes. I love it. Carl - Carl Thornhill answered on July 25, 2015

Yes. I've started my 6.3 liter Escalade engine. - Stan Kitchens answered on July 26, 2015

I jump started a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V-8 and it did fine. That's what I bought it for. - Jere J. Mansfield answered on July 31, 2015

result depends on how 'dead' the car battery is.

If you fully charged this and left it in your trunk, about how long would it remain capable of jump-starting a car?

Just use this on a daily basis as a regular phone charger, then bring it back home, charge it overnight. Take it with you in the morning.

I recently found my 3.4 liter V6 2009 Toyota Sienna dead in the morning after I bumped my lights on button the night before, it wouldn't even respond to my remote unlocks or double key turn to unlock the other doors. I used a 400 peak amp starter, the S-uaoki T10 (name isn't liked by the forum??) that I bought during a deal earlier this year and jumped it, and it started in about 4-5 cranks at the starter. Saved my bacon, I was blocking my aunt from driving to work and this got me moving until I could trickle charge up.

I'm sure more is safer, but it did work for me on this size engine.
