That's not the same model. That doesn't have all bands for all carriers. The one on Amazon can be used with all major US carriers.

I know that this model: US997 has the CDMA bands, but does anyone have this working on any of the Verizon MVNOs (Red Pocket, Boom, etc.) and does it get 4G LTE?

I have searched the web for answers, and see mixed responses - but there is no definitive answer. It seems like Verizon does not let you activate this device on their network, and the only people who have got it to work were already on Verizon using a different phone and just switched the SIM card to this phone to get it activated.

Typical Verizon crap. They make it difficult to activate an unlocked phone that is compatible with their network, but not sold by them. I was using this model on their network for over a month with no issues (I already had an active nano sim). It will also work with their MVNOs.

The problem, as you mentioned, is for non-VZW customers looking to get VZW service for the first time or current customers that need a new nano sim card. Verizon won't provide you with a sim card because the phone is not in their system. The best workaround for current customers that don't have a nano sim is to cut the micro sim down to nano size. Once it's cut, pop it into the phone and you'll be good to go. Some people have had luck getting a store rep to initially activate service on one of the store demo phones, but not every rep will do that.

A word of warning for T-Mobile users: this model may not be VOLTE certified, and this could prevent you from connecting to the LTE network in certain areas.

I bought the US unlocked model of the LG G5 (RS988), and even though it is listed as having band 12, I was unable to get it to connect to band 12 on T-Mobile. When I was in 'Extended LTE' (band 12-only) areas, I would be roaming while a T-Mobile Galaxy S7 would have a full T-Mobile LTE signal. In the network settings, the phone wouldn't even see the T-Mobile LTE RAT.

While it's remotely possible that I had a bad unit, I think it more likely that T-Mobile or LG were preventing a band 12 connection due to a lack of VOLTE certification. T-Mobile has required manufacturers to disable band 12 on other unlocked phones that did not have VOLTE certification. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with this model.

See this page [spectrumgateway.com] for more information.

Battery life on this is SO bad for a flagship. Couldn't even make it through the day. Otherwise a really great phone.

LG G6 vs the Huawei Mate? Both $450 today...

What are the differences between the US997 (one on Amazon Prime Lightning deal) and the H870DS (above linked ebay one for $400)

If you add yourself to the wishlist, you might get one. I did for the black and had it show up for me to buy 10 min later. I ended up not buying, so it still may be out there.

I don't know why this deal is marked as expired. The Platinum one is still very much in stock at the same price.
